Enjoy your favorite TV mysteries with us. Each episode we watch show and immediately guess whodunit, without any clues, context, or — apparently — accuracy. Then we spoil everything. We not only tell you who did it but also who made it, with fascinating looks into the careers, lives, and trivia of the artists themselves and special interview episodes with the writers of TV mysteries. If it’s got a mystery, we watch it! Cluedunnit has guessed on TV case-of-the-week episodes from such different series as the hot new shows Poker Face and So Help Me, Todd, silly series like Psych and Monk, costume pieces like Frankie Drake Mysteries and Vienna Blood, noir thrillers like the Prime Suspect and Endeavour, cozy Hallmark mysteries like Murder, She Baked, all the way to classics like Murder, She Wrote and Magnum P.I. We go worldwide too, watching mysteries from Italy, New Zealand, and more.

The fern is dead. Long live the fern. Jacob and Jessica are casting for a new houseplant while diving into a Vegas-set “Murder, She Wrote” that takes 25 minutes to produce a body — but delivers two murders and seven suspects with more motives than a casino has sequins.
Special guest Tim Benzie, creator of the wildly fun Solve Along a Murder She Wrote live show stops by to talk camp, panto, the "Fame-o-meter," his dream of global Jessica Jogs, and the one rule nobody knows.
Meanwhile, Jacob's indignation reaches peak levels over Jessica Fletcher flying Southwest. Salt shakers stand in for suspects. Someone theorizes the hotel owner is secretly communicating via sequins and Angela Lansbury mispronounces "Nevada."
Both hosts lock in their guesses — but did either of them nail it? You'll have to listen to find out if someone walked out of Vegas a winner!

Jacob and Jessica are back with a special episode — and Jacob is still working through some video anxiety. Meanwhile, Jessica nearly wore orange pants, and honestly that would have changed everything.
This week's pick comes courtesy of returning guest Eloise Corvo, author of the Stone's Throw Mystery series. (Her sophomore novel Tunnel Vision is out now — go read it!) She recommended The Thursday Murder Club, the 2025 film adaptation of Richard Osman's beloved novel series. Eloise joins the pod before the guesses to talk about her new book, prohibition-era Chicago mob history in northern Michigan, her lifelong Halloween devotion, and why she dressed as Dracula for four years straight as a child.
In the movie, four sharp-as-ever retirees at the gorgeously impractical Cooper's Chase retirement community (no nuns lived like this, Jacob insists) spend their Thursdays solving cold cases — until a real murder lands in their backyard. Stars Dame Helen F*ing Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, David Tennant in full snakey-hipped villain mode, Jonathan Pryce, and Tom Ellis, who may or may not actually know how to ice skate. The debate is lively. Tom Ellis, you are welcome on this podcast anytime to defend yourself.
Did we guess correctly? Did we at least guess how many times Pierce Brosnan got to say “plonker”? Listen and find out!

A dead chef. A crop circle. A UFO convention descending on Brokenwood. This week Jacob and Jessica are back in New Zealand for the Season 12 opener of The Brokenwood Mysteries TV show. Can we solve whodunit before Detective Mike Shepherd drops the big reveal, given that it is absolutely not aliens? Or maybe it is?
Jessica does, in fact, guess aliens, but somehow her guess that doesn’t involve aliens is even stranger. Jacob’s guess nearly gets him on the wrong side of Kiwis everywhere, but are either of them correct?
Along the way: Jessica defends the word "molded" to a skeptical Midwesterner, and they attempt to settle the matter once and for all by considering writing to Green Day. They also break down why Frodo is the true MVP of every episode, why a groundskeeper assaulting a detective is somehow completely fine, and why a character wanting to be married to aliens is the saddest and most relatable thing they've heard in a cozy mystery in a long time.

This episode we’re covering Death Valley, the Welsh cozy mystery on BritBox that's basically Midsomer Murders but with even more unpronounceable town names and a retired actor solving crimes for fun. This is also our first video episode! Come check us out on YouTube or patreon.com/cluedunnitpodcast!
In this episode: Retired TV detective actor John Chapel (Timothy Spall) teams up with eager-but-junior DS Janie Mallowan (Gwyneth Keyworth) to investigate a murder at a 15-year high school reunion.
The guesses:
- 🌿 Jessica suspects the school administrator — a Ray Gruber from Fisk type who, in her fully elaborated theory, murders Dean to avoid hiring the odious Rhys into his will-and-trust side business. It's... intricate.
- 💪 Jacob goes with the momfluencer Rhiannon — the aromatherapist influencer whose rock is Rhys.
Things that came up:
- Jacob's pop-up sign at work is actively trying to eat his fingers
- Timothy Spall: RADA-trained, Royal Shakespeare Company veteran, Harry Potter's Peter "Wormtail" Pettigrew, Enchanted henchman, and cancer survivor. Also: possible eyebrow toupee.
- Jessica accidentally calls Harry Potter "Harry Tale"
- Wales vs. Hawaii: a linguistic theory about where all the consonants went
What we learned:
- DS Janie Mallowan's name is a double Agatha Christie homage: "Mallowan" (Christie's second husband Max Mallowan) + "Jane" (Miss Jane Marple's first name)
- Director Simon Hynd also helmed Ghosts, Motherland, and Can You Keep a Secret (Dawn French fakes her own death)
Standings: Jacob leads. Jessica has no jerseys. No motives. Nothing.

Jacob and Jessica are back to guess the murderer before the credits roll — this time on the new BritBox cozy crime drama “A Taste for Murder,” set on the stunning island of Capri. Between mispronounced Italian, a suspicious water pump, and debates about apps worth $20 million, will they somehow find the killer?
In This Episode:
- Show Intro: A Taste for Murder – A British detective retreats to Capri after his wife's death and ends up, naturally, investigating murders with his teenager in tow. Jacob cannot stress enough how hard it is to feel sorry for someone whose tragedy-coping mechanism is Capri.
- The Cast Breakdown – Jessica runs through the credits, including a former two-time world Thai boxing champion turned actor, a young actress who played mini Harry Styles in a music video, and the beloved Mrs. Hughes from Downton Abbey (sorry, IMDB — everyone knows that's her biggest role)
- "Suck it, AI — get your head in the game." — Jessica, on IMDB's algorithm
- The Episode Recap: "Torta Della Nonna" – A British tourist in a fuchsia dress turns up dead on the rocks below Tiberius Leap. The clues: no shoes, a shredded prenup, a duplicitous boyfriend, a beauty therapist, and a cousin nobody knew existed.
- The Guesses – Jessica thinks: grifter, jealous boyfriend, push. Jacob thinks: influencer, depressed girlfriend, made to look like a mental health episode. Jacob wins. Jessica graciously concedes.
- "She said she'd give it to me. That means I win." — Jacob
- Funny Moments:
- Jacob's take on the dad dragging his teenage daughter off a date to go chase a murderer together: "What teenage daughter doesn't want to participate in police work?"
- The duo debating whether the Brit detective has earned the right to "retreat to Capri" after a tragedy, leading to: "My definition of tragedy changes drastically when Capri is an option."
- Jessica storming into the kitchen at 4 AM thinking Jacob was a burglar — he was feeding the cat. A plate broke. Chaos ensued.
- The coroner who doesn't want to share information with the police — a first in TV history according to Jacob and Jessica.
- The mysterious restaurant water pump that Joe keeps splashing his face with, now appearing in multiple episodes. Theories welcome.
- The Naples police station overrun with plants, many of which were not thriving.
- Jacob learning what "EVOO" means approximately 20 years after everyone else.
- The pronunciation gauntlet: Italian cast names, episode titles in Italian, and the word "Neapolitan."
- Fun History Fact – Tiberius Leap: Emperor Tiberius used that exact cliff to execute servants he didn't like. The Virgin Mary now watches over it. It's fine.
- Christie's Rating – Jessica gives it 3; Jacob argues for at least 5 (cahoot situation, multiple alibis, prenup shredded the wrong way). They meet somewhere in the middle.

Don’t let it be said that Will Trent has no style, even if it is “repressed brown green.” Instead, Jessica takes umbrage at other costume choices and reveals a secret SO SHOCKING that Jacob has to journal about it. We also try to dig in and remember our 20s, just to see if Gen Z folks are being ageist towards Gen X, or if we were that obnoxious too. (Or in Jacob’s case, how far into the 30s his obnoxious-ness lasted.)
We watched WILL TRENT, season 4, episode 4, “The Man from Nowhere.”

Come celebrate the newest Cozy Mystery holiday with us and an episode of MATLOCK. Yes, we know that people celebrate cozy mysteries on Agatha Christie’s birthday in the fall — but c’mon! February was cold and dark and we could all use a little more cozy in it. So break out our noisemakers and fire up the confetti cannons, because we’re eating hot chicken and singing along with Whitney Houston while we watch this episode!
We watched MATLOCK, season 2, episode 3, “Tomorrow Is Still Tomorrow.”

Folks, this episode is ALL about the animals. First of all, there are adorable dogs throughout — not to mention a vet tech who’s completely willing to break dog HIPAA laws. Of course this means Jessica can’t resist talking about sheep and sheepdogs. But then there’s also the silver-fox of a suspect, who may or may not have a bouffant hairdo, a cat t-shirt to die for, and some amazing cat aikido in the final confrontation. Since this episode has it all, does it also have a correct guess?
We watched MY LIFE IS MURDER, series 5, episode 3, “For the Love of Dog.”

Here at Cluedunnit we’re all about guessing the perpetrators of fake crime — but maybe also real estate? In this episode we learn about the fancy parts of town, share what to avoid when going to a secret location so someone can sharpen your knives, and search the history behind one of LA’s original mansions. We also revel in a quick cold open and of course diss Scrappy-Doo. (The WORST.) But do we finally guess the criminal correctly?
We watched HIGH POTENTIAL, season 2, episode 6, “Chasing Ghosts”

In the bleak midwinter, we question why there aren’t any songs about the end of the Christmas season, or the twelve days of salad that we need after all that eggnog and sweets. Luckily, MIDSOMER MURDERS is here for us, giving us inventive kills (Deadly cuckoo clocks! Woodglue suffocation!), amazing costumes (Wrap-around fish-bodice!), and new vocabulary (Dibbler!). But did we get it right?
